We arrived in Addis about 20 hours ago! To beat the jet lag we’re spending the afternoon in the Lime Tree Cafe downing cups of delicious Ethiopian coffee and enjoying the free wireless internet. We’re still adjusting to the altitude (walking up the four flights up to our hotel room leaves us short of breath), the pollution (which is seriously aggravating my sinuses), and odd sights (such as seeing a herd of sheep walking down the street). But all in all we’re thrilled to be here and can’t believe we actually made it out of Baltimore in one piece (we were still frantically throwing things in boxes and suitcases when the car arrived to take us to the airport). So after learning many lessons over the past few months about what it takes to pack up your life for a year, we’re definitely glad to finally begin this adventure! -Katie

Hi kids, I’m so honored to be the first one to post a comment on your blog! You guys are just amazing, and I’m so proud of you. Looking forward to more photos! I’m still sick, but getting better. This thing is just nasty. Love, Mom

Hi Katie and Luke!!
“Your fellow rastafarian brethren are rejoicing at the image of Luke at Haile’s feet!”–quoted by Uros. We are so happy that you made it to Addis Ababa. We are thinking of you and wish we could join you in one of those luxurious massages!! We look forward to more news. Hope you get the villa—we would love to see pictures of it (no pressure). Another quote from Uros—”I always thought Ethopian women are very pretty.” He wants to know if that is a fact?
Love,
The Koprivica Gang

I too am very proud of you guys. I think this took real guts, and no better time than when you are just beginning your married life together. They say if you can buy a house and plan a wedding, and have not killed each other – than you will make it. I hope noone writes the ‘one year in Ethiopia’ requirement….I think many of us would give up the courtship. Luke… take good care of your spiritual self; I imagine Bill may be hard to find in Addis. Best, Eric
